Ok. I like the concept in mind here. BUT. I respect that you notice that some importand parts of this portrait are not as in focus as you might have wanted or as they should be. In fact the leaf under the peak of the bird is much more in focus than what you subject is.
Using a 400mm lens here would have been apropriate but also to much. ex: a 300mm tele-macro lens would have done it for you . i agree with the apperture and shutter speed also the iso seems reasonable. the leaf is a stand alone in this portrait even though you wouldnt want to get close to the animal not to scare it of it doesnt look nice. the color composition rather than that leaf is verry nice.
